The Dawn Wall

In January 2015, American rock climbers Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson captivated the world with their effort to climb The Dawn Wall, a seemingly impossible 3,000-foot rock face in Yosemite National Park, California. The pair lived on the sheer vertical cliff for weeks, igniting a frenzy of global media attention. But for Tommy Caldwell, The Dawn Wall was much more than just a climb. It was the culmination of a lifetime defined by overcoming obstacles. At the age of 22, he was taken hostage by rebels in Kyrgyzstan. Shortly after, he lost his index finger in an accident, then had his marriage fall apart. He escaped all the pain by fixating on the extraordinary goal of free climbing The Dawn Wall. Sponsored by Aimee & Mitch Dryer and Julie & Andy McNeill. Not Rated. Running time 100 minutes. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Film starts at 7:00 pm.

Lodge Staff Trip with Three Rivers Resort

For the summer season, Three Rivers Resort and Outfitting invited us - the front desk lodge staff - on a guided white water rafting trip! Our guide had over 25 years of experience and took us through the beautiful Upper part of Taylor River. It was an amazing high mountain whitewater rafting experience with stunning views of the Elk Mountain range and wildlife, including big horn sheep. The raft guide thoroughly went over all safety guidelines before the trip and continued to focus on the safety of the passengers throughout the entire excursion. It was an overall unforgettable, fun, and safe experience. For more information on booking a Whitewater Rafting experience, visit Three Rivers Resort's website at www.3riversresort.com and check out the many other activities and adventures they offer!

The Colorado Jazz Music Festival

Crested Butte is a beautiful recreation based mountain community with a great many amenities. Throughout the year it offers a wide range of sports, most notably skiing, snowboarding, golf, mountain biking, and hiking. It also offers a broad array of educational and cultural offerings and was recently recognized as a Colorado ‘Creative District music has always been an important part of the town. Now we are adding a unique, three-day jazz festival: The Colorado Jazz Musicians Festival. The Colorado Jazz Musicians Festival features many of the extraordinarily fine, often under-recognized, exclusively Colorado-based jazz vocalists and instrumentalists.  The inaugural Festival will be held in Crested Butte on September 7, 8 and 9 this year. Mid-September, when most of the summer crowds have diminished, is the month many locals consider the single best time of the year. The days are warm and the nights are cool. The air is crisp, the streams are crystal clear, the sky is ultra-blue, and the aspen leaves are beginning to turn to gold. In this setting, jazz musicians will be jamming! So, no matter what: come and enjoy this one-of-a-kind jazz festival in this welcoming and unique mountain town!
