Donavon Fankenreiter at Public House CB

Donavon Frankenreiter has been writing, recording and touring his music for 20 years. With over a dozen full-length record releases and hundreds of songs written, the traveling troubadour has become beacon for funkified jams, stylish stomps and feel-good grooves. From his surf-inspired serenades to classic blues-rooted funk, the Donavon is always evolving. It would seem he’s just getting started…

After a whirlwind of travel and months on the road touring, Donavon cruised his way back to the studio to get crackin’ on some brand new tunes. As the amps buzzed so did the excitement. His fresh collection of hand written scribbles on loose paper started to come to life before his eyes – manifesting themselves into 4 brand new tracks: “Them Blues”, “Boom Boom”, “Is It You” and “Could Be One of Those Days”.

With the creative mojo flowing and growing, Donavon decided to keep on the gas. In July 2019, he released a new album aptly titled “Bass & Drum Tracks”. Comprised of 16 songs (13 of his most beloved, classic tracks and 3 news ones) this assemblage of stripped-down jams gives the world a whole new way to get down, get creative and get into some good ol’ fashion Frankenreiter fun.

Equal parts inventive and inclusive, this new “Bass & Drums Tracks” record allows fans and music lovers all around the world become part of Donavon’s wondrous world in their own unique way. Whether you slay it on the saxophone, sing the blues or just toot on your trusty kazoo, there’s something on this record for you… Sing along! Play along! Start a band!

To celebrate this new selection of tunes, Donavon will be promoting the release of the album and the new songs by performing it LIVE on their upcoming tours. Like usual, he plans to go worldwide for months at a time. Only this time, Donavon is bringing his love for vinyl records out on the road like never before…

His long-time obsession with analog sound and vintage record players is making its way on stage! For “The Record Player Tour”, Donavon and his long-time right-hand man, Matt Grundy, will be playing their set as dynamic duo – with their trusty record placed between them. They’ll be dropping the needle themselves, LIVE in hi-fi, spinning the analog bass and drums on wax as their backing “band”. It’s the sort of special twist that you don’t want to miss…

Martin Sexton

American singer-songwriter Martin Sexton is highly regarded as a musician’s musician. A Syracuse native, Sexton got his start singing in the streets and subways of Boston in the early 90’s and is now known for his wide vocal range and fingerstyle guitar. This one-of-a-kind troubadour blends soul, gospel, country, rock, blues and R&B, causing the Los Angeles Times to label him a soul poet, folkie and rocker simultaneously. Fiercely independent, Sexton has infiltrated many musical worlds, collaborating with John Mayer and Peter Frampton as well as performing in venues as diverse as New Orleans Jazz Fest, Carnegie Hall, Bonnaroo and Jam Cruise. His songs are featured in Showtime’s “Masters of Sex” and “Brotherhood;” NBC’s “Scrubs” and “Parenthood;” and IFC’s film “Lucky Them.” Says the Boston Globe, “Sexton is ripe with raw, expansive talent. His voice comes in a hundred impossible shades. His songs are sweet and spirited and soulful. His repertoire is like a cross-country tour of the American musical vernacular.”

Roots pop Front Country has forged a sound hell bent on merging the musical past of bluegrass with the future. Melding traditional acoustic instruments with modern pop, their peculiar aesthetic produces songs that are intricate, intense and infectious. Their unique blend rises from a bassist equally versed in newgrass and jazz; a mandolinist with a degree in composition and classical guitar; a guitarist trained in rock and world music; a violinist that can seamlessly hop between honky tonk and electropop; and a multi-instrumental female lead singer-songwriter with grit and soul. It’s not a sound based on current trends, but an innovative perspective looking to find a new audience. Their progressive-leaning acoustic music won them first prize at both Rocky Grass and Telluride Bluegrass Festivals before being invited to tour legendary anchors such as Old Settlers and MerleFest.

General Admission Early Bird (until 3/29/19): $20. Please visit the event website for more information and to purchase tickets.

One of the most influential modern stars in Texas’ long country-music tradition, legendary troubadour Pat Green once again brings his sold-out show to the Center. Since 1995, Pat has released 13 albums, and sold more than two million records, racking up a staggering 12 Number Ones on the Texas Radio chart (including his most-recent single, “Drinkin’ Days”). He’s been nominated for three Grammy awards and is still regarded as one of the most electrifying entertainers on tour, covering millions of miles and filling venues like the historic Gruene Hall and the massive Houston Astrodome with equal ease. Even mainstream stars like Willie Nelson, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and Dave Matthews have taken Green out on the road, recognizing the mass appeal of his everyday anthems, dedicated to the simple joys and inevitable heartbreaks of the American experience. Pat’s trailblazing songs have been instrumental in putting Texas country on the map, paving the way for scores of other artists who share his passion for authenticity. Pat plays with his full band for this concert.

The prolific new standard-bearers of the psychedelic roots torch, Chris Robinson Brotherhood bring their shimmering acid-Americana once again to the Center stage. Overflowing with stunning musicianship and infectious energy, their latest album, Barefoot in the Head, pushes even more boundaries as Robinson and the band deftly intertwine country, blues and psychedelia, freewheeling 60s folk, and a breakneck stream of consciousness blurring the lines between fantasy and reality. It revels in the kind of adventurousness that only comes from five artists tuned into the same sonic wavelength. Rolling Stone calls their newest endeavor “… good-time music on an end-times mission.” Chris Robinson Brotherhood is Neal Casal (guitar), Tony Leone (drums), Adam MacDougall (keyboards), and Jeff Hill (bass). Two tiers of VIP packages are available with a pre-show Meet & Greet, personal photograph with Chris Robinson, specialized CRB memorabilia, and much more. Please find VIP ticket details and pricing on the events website.

The Father of Newgrass and King of Telluride, legendary mandolin master Sam Bush has long established himself as bluegrass royalty. A lifetime of channeling his energy has led to stylistic innovations that have changed the course of bluegrass and roots music alike. The sheer ferocity of his playing and the brilliant suppleness, ease and warmth of his vocals have earned him a suite of honors including a “Lifetime Achievement” from the Americana Music Association; four International Bluegrass Music Association “Mandolin Player of the Year” awards, and three Grammy’s heralding talents from best album to best performance. His most recent album, Storyman, is a freewheeling collection that gleefully picks and chooses from jazz, folk, blues, reggae, country swing, and bluegrass to create a jubilant noise only classifiable as the Sam Bush sound. Revered for both his solo and sideman work, which includes time with the likes of Emmylou Harris, Lyle Lovett and Béla Fleck, Sam boasts a bevy of 30 recorded albums. This will be an evening full of light and joy, peace and frenzy, a rapt merging of life and music. Sam plays with his full band for this concert.
